Jason is an alumnus of the University of Maryland Baltimore where he earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2005.  He graduated with a clinical concentration in manual therapy and sports rehabilitation.  Jason received a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Frostburg State University in 2001.  In 2006, Jason also became a nationally recognized Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

Jason has post-graduate training in aquatic physical therapy, manual therapy, sports rehabilitation, and post-rehabilitation personal training.  He has a special interest, and years of experience, in working with injured athletes of all ages and skill levels (youth, high school, college, and professional).  Over the last 12 years, Jason has served as a physical therapist of the Washington Capitals Ice Hockey Club, Crystal Palace Baltimore (an American professional soccer team), Bowie State University, all Howard County high schools, and he has also been the primary physical therapy consultant of Axis Sport Performance Training of Columbia, MD since 2009. He utilizes his strength and conditioning background to offer post-rehabilitation personal training, sports performance, and injury prevention programs to his clients.

After years of working as a Clinic Director for several of the area’s larger physical therapy practices, in 2011 Jason opened his own practice, Catalyst Orthopedic & Sports Physical Therapy, LLC, in Columbia, MD inside of Axis.  Although capable of treating any orthopedic patient, this facility specializes in the treatment of active individuals and athletes.  In 2015, Jason also became co-owner of Axis Sport Performance and has since helped grow its baseball-specific strength and conditioning programs.

Jason also owns Chiseled Life, an apparel company that designs clothes for those who lead a healthy and active lifestyle.  Chiseled Life is a proud sponsor of the Maryland National Physique Committee and Maryland Bodybuilding.

Personal Background

Jason grew up in Howard County and spent most of his youth playing baseball with the Elkridge Hurricanes.  He went on to play baseball at Mount Saint Joseph High School before suffering a shoulder injury that required two surgeries and extensive rehabilitation.  This experience became the most influential factor in his professional development.  Jason later walked on for one season of baseball as a pitcher at Frostburg State University.  Over the last three years, Jason has competed in the NPC, the largest amateur bodybuilding organization in the United States.  He is a national level men’s physique competitor and is currently working hard to achieve his pro card so he can move on to the IFBB pro level. He finished 6th at the 2015 North American Championships, where first and second place turned professional.  Jason is also an avid snowboarder and motorcycle enthusiast.

Ashley
Physical Therapist

Ashley O’Rourke is the newest member of the Catalyst team. She joins Catalyst PT as a full-time, duel credentialed Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). Ashley completed her undergraduate degree in 2012 from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill where she earned a BA in Exercise and Sport Science- Athletic Training and Peace, War and Defense. There, she worked with many of the Tar Heel’s sports teams including: the Women’s Tennis ACC Championship team, Track and Field, Football, Baseball and Men’s Soccer.

Following graduation, Ashley accepted the opportunity to work for the two professional soccer teams in Washington D.C.- DC United of Major League Soccer (MLS) and the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). There, she served as an Athletic Trainer working with both the professional athletes and the youth development academy teams. It was during this same time period that Ashley was living in the DMV that she first became involved with Catalyst- working as a physical therapy tech in addition to her Athletic Training positions while she applied to Physical Therapy school.

Upon her acceptance to PT school, Ashley then moved to Miami, FL where she pursued her Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree for the next 3 years at Florida International University. During her last semester of PT school, Ashley chose to return to Catalyst Physical Therapy to complete her final clinical rotation specialized in sports and orthopedics before becoming fully employed as a licensed PT in November 2016.

Ashley grew up in a military family where she moved often and lived across various parts of the U.S. including: Connecticut, California, Virginia, North Carolina, Nebraska and Florida. While Ashley enjoys many aspects of PT, her heart lies with working in orthopedics- particularly with athletes and active individuals recovering from injury. It was her own injuries as a gymnast for 18 years, those of her teammates and her involvement in several other sports that initially sparked her interest in the sports medicine field and eventually led her down the path to become an athletic trainer/physical therapist caring for athletes.
