Common Injuries

Injuries are typically the result of overuse, trauma, and more commonly, an imbalance of some kind. Whether the imbalance stems from an issue regarding strength, flexibility, balance, or simply a difference bilaterally, symptoms will return unless this imbalance is corrected. Catalyst PT utilizes a functional movement screen and a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s subjective report, history, objective presentation, and goals to reach an assessment and establish an efficient plan of care specific to each patient. Patient education on the anatomy and pathology of their injury is a critical part of their treatment. Compliance, success, and post-rehab confidence are much higher when the patient understands what they are doing and how it is helping them. Home exercise programs from the start of treatment and after discharge are also invaluable tools to increase the efficiency of treatment, create patient independence with self-management of symptoms, and ultimately prevent future injury by eliminating the re-occurrence of the initial imbalance. Strong manual therapy skills, the use of modalities, and comprehensive corrective exercise programs with a focus on safe, functional progression are also underlying factors in the consistent success of Catalyst’s treatment philosophy.
